The Municipality of Ponoka County now brings you the convenience of managing your accounts online and at any time. To use the Online Services, you will need your Access/Pin Number which is printed on your bill or statement.  You can also obtain your PIN/Access Number by calling the county office. TAX PAYMENT METHODS
Ponoka County accepts payment in the form of cash, cheque, debit and select credit cards.
Credit Card:
Ponoka County accepts payment with select credit cards through OptionPay. OptionPay is a payment card system with a tiered
fee schedule with a minimum fee of $2.00 per transaction. Account information must be included. For details visit
www.ponokacounty.com and click on Payment Options.
Online Banking:
Select payee as PONOKA COUNTY PROPERTY TAX. Required account number is your tax roll number. Each bank is unique
and may require additional digits—use zeros (9 digits total, no spaces).
In Person:
4205 Highway 2A. Office hours Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. After-hours drop slot available. Cheques payable to
Ponoka County with remittance.
By Mail:

TIPPS:
Prepayment plan available for the 2026 tax year only if your account is at zero June 30, 2026. First payment July 20, 2026.

PENALTIES
No penalty if paid on or before June 30, 2026. 10% penalty applied July 1, 2026. Additional 5% penalty on remaining balance
after December 31, 2026.
Any property with respect to which the taxes are in arrears is liable to proceedings under the Municipal Government Act. Where
taxes are paid by a mortgage company or other party, the owner is responsible to ensure payment. *Any appeal against your
assessed property value does not exempt the owner from paying taxes by the due date or from late penalties. If an appeal is
successful, the adjustment will be applied to the tax roll.
INFORMATION ENTITLEMENT
An Assessed Person is entitled to see or receive sufficient information about the person’s property under Section 299 of the
Municipal Government Act, or receive a Summary of Assessment under Section 300, or both.
ASSESSMENT COMPLAINT
Contact the Ponoka County Assessment Department and explain why you believe your assessment is incorrect. A meeting will
be arranged with the property assessor, who may inspect the property and correct the assessment if needed.
If the initial review is unsatisfactory, an appeal may be made in writing to the Clerk of the Assessment Review Board. Complaint
forms are available from the County Office or online at ponokacounty.com or municipalaffairs.ab.ca.
Appeals must be submitted to Ponoka County, Attention: Peter Hall, CAO, 4205 Highway 2A, Ponoka, AB T4J 1V9, on or before
June 30, 2026 (60 days from the mailing date of the tax notice).
You will be advised in writing of the date on which the Assessment Review Board will hear your complaint.
